The neighborhood of Piraeus - Where the rainwater system is design
At the Pireus neighborhood in Lund, an exciting project has taken shape, where 223 student apartments make up a creative and functional residential area. Through a collaboration between the architectural firm MSA Open Studio, Stiftelsen AF Bostäder, Wästbygg and Lödde Plåt, the rainwater system has taken a clearer place as a design element, inspired by the punk icon Sid Vicious and his band Sex Pistols.
"Normally, we usually make sure that roof irrigation comes quite late in the processes, but in our case we have highlighted it and made sure that it has become something big."
Elin Algotsson, architect MSA, Open Studios in Malmö
223 student apartments

Unique design
The project, which focuses on creating cheap but high-quality student apartments, has used an innovative method. Instead of putting the rainwater system at the end of the construction process, it was chosen as a central part of the design. By using Lindab's standard products for rainwater drainage, the project has succeeded in creating unique patterns that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Contrasting colors
The color choice of black and antique white gives the buildings a distinct and powerful look, while paying tribute to the rawness and youthfulness of punk. This creative use of the rainwater system has not only improved the aesthetic value of the buildings, but also contributed to a more sustainable and cost-effective solution.
Reinterpreted functionality
The project at the Piraeus neighborhood stands as a shining example of how traditional building components can be reinterpreted and used in new, innovative ways. It shows how Lindab's products can be adapted and used to not only fulfill functional needs, but also to create unique and inspiring environments.
